On June 25, 2025, the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, I was invited to attend the commemoration ceremony hosted by Gyeonggi Province at the Gyeonggi Province Business and Science Accelerator building in Suwon. I had requested the Gyeonggi branch of the Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) and they were very kind in inviting me to the provincial commemoration ceremony and in arranging four veterans for me to interview. Amongst the interviewees was Kim Hong-soo, a distinguished veteran of the Korean War and the head of the Gyeonggi branch of the KWVA.
