I participated in a roundtable discussion with Fmr. USFK, CFC, and UNC Commander Robert Abrams hosted by the Korea Defense Veterans Association (KDVA) on December 1st, 2025. I asked General Abrams for his updated opinion regarding wartime OPCON transfer, its prospective timeline, the conditions-based operational control transfer plan (COTP), and the timeline of the IOC, FOC, and FMC assessments of the Future CFC in light of next year’s scheduled FOC assessments and the ROK government’s goal to complete OPCON transfer within President Lee’s term. I also answered a question pertaining to my grandfather’s service and work for the ROK Navy and the US Eighth Army, detailing how I researched and rediscovered my grandfather’s story using such primary sources as his old military records.
