This past fall semester, I received an invitation by Yonsei University’s English magazine, The Yonsei Annals, to write an op-ed piece on a topic of my choosing. At the time, the Seoul Metropolitan Government had just announced that it was suspending its erstwhile vast redesign and expansion plans for Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno District. I wrote down my thoughts regarding these recent developments and what they should portend for future historical projects of restorative intent in Korea. The link to my article is attached below.
